A Win-Win Exchange
Iowa State University
March 18 - 19, 1999

A conference was held at Iowa State University, on March 18 - 19, 1999, to bring together farm and agribusiness leaders from throughout the Midwest and more than a dozen foreign countries. The CRSPs' hour-long presentation included a slide show narrated by David Cummins, the former director of the Peanut CRSP, and a panel discussion including David Cummins, S.K. De Datta of the IPM CRSP, Dermot Coyne of the Bean Cowpea CRSP, and Sidi Békaye Coulibaly of the INTSORMIL CRSP. The photographic exhibit (viewable as a virtual tour of the CRSPs on this web site), which had been at the USAID Information Center for three and a half months in 1998 was displayed at the Win-Win Exchange conference at Iowa State University. Besides the hour-long CRSP presentation and the photographic exhibit highlighting all the CRSPs, representatives of the Sorghum/Millet (INTSORMIL) CRSP gave an hour-long presentation which included five brief talks and a panel discussion. Thomas Crawford gave the overview, Gary Peterson spoke about benefits of INTSORMIL to the American sorghum industry, Warren Christy gave his perspectives as a pearl millet grower in the Midwest, Tahirou Abdoulaye from Niger, West Africa explained benefits of INTSORMIL research and training to West Africa, and Wayne Hanna of the University of Georgia described commercialization of pearl millet in the American Southeast.
